The School Day
Thorpe St Andrew School and Sixth Form (as part of The Yare Education Trust) continues to have a broad and balanced curriculum which promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical developments of students and prepares them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.
Our curriculum continues to:
- include English, Mathematics and Science
- include Religious Education through Life Skills in Year 7, Ethics in Years 8 and 9, ethos activities and assemblies in the pastoral system and the option for all to study GCSE Religion, Philosophy and Ethics in Years 10 and 11
- secure access to independent, impartial careers advice for students in Years 9-11 (a dedicated non teacher Pathway Guidance Co-ordinator working closely with our PSHEE teaching team which all students have access to)
- include sex and relationship education (SRE).
Teaching and learning activities and how the curriculum is delivered (implementation) follow our Teaching for ‘Success For All’ approach, with regular formative assessment, coupled with the use of student Personalised Learning Checklists (PLCs) and summative assessment which allows us to see the impact of teaching and learning.
For further information on our Curriculum, please contact Mr Pywell, Deputy Principal – Curriculum Development.
