Child Development

Curriculum Intent Statement:

The Child Care curriculum aims to extend student’s knowledge of the care and developmental needs of children aged 0-18 years. This includes the needs of parents and the role of professionals in supporting them. By understanding the needs of others and different experiences students should develop in empathy and understanding. Students will extend their research skills and their ability to reference and select information. Placement experience in Sixth Form will help them to apply their knowledge when observing and assessing the skills of a child. This will allow students to achieve Early Years Educator Status, allowing them to become a competent practitioner.
