Summer School Funding

In August 2021, Thorpe St Andrew School and Sixth Form hosted a Summer Enrichment Programme (Summer School) for incoming Year 7 students. The Summer Enrichment Programme lasted for five days, from Monday 23 August to Friday 27 August 2021.

For the five days, we offered places to a total of 310 incoming Year 7 students (of which 31 were eligible for Pupil Premium). Our lowest daily attendance was 222 students and our highest attendance was 226 students. This resulted in a total of 1122 student days over the five-day period.

The five-day programme was managed by United Education (their website can be found here – https://www.united-education.co.uk/) following input from Thorpe St Andrew School and Sixth Form staff.

Each day started with an assembly led by school staff which was then followed by a series of activities.  These included subject tutoring in English and Maths, sports and team games, arts and drama, well-being exercises and other team building activities.

Costs:

The five days of the Summer School cost £53,807.56 in total. The majority of costs incurred were for the contracting of external providers (United Education) and was inclusive of catering and cleaning. However, included in the total costs were £705.01 for our own staff and £512.43 for water bottles that attendees kept.
