COVID-19 Update

Vaccination Programme

In September 2021, the UK Chief Medical Officers recommended that the government extends the offer of a single dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to all 12-to-15-year-olds.  This has been approved as safe and effective for this age group by the UK medicines regulator, the MHRA.

It is estimated that this country’s world leading vaccination programme has saved more than 120,000 lives. Vaccinations are building a wall of defence across the country and it is important that as many young people as possible take up the offer so we can continue to keep these defences strong.

Home-Testing

Taking part in testing is voluntary and all students will be able to attend school whether they take part in testing or not.

The Government strongly encourages all students to take part as testing at home will allow us to make the school as safe as we possibly can for staff and students. It is highly advised that all students test before they return to school after a holiday break.

  • Tests should be taken every 3-5 days (ie twice weekly)

  • Instructions on how to use the tests are in the boxes – Note: there are several types of home-test kits which are now available and these may differ from the ones that you may be used to

  • Written instructions can be found here: Guidance for Covid-19 Self-test

  • Videos for each type can be found by clicking on the relevant link: for Innova Rapid Antigen Test or for Orient Gene Rapid Self-Test or for Acon-Flowflex

  • Once you have completed the test, please enter your result through the NHS website where you will register the test.

  • Please record your result even if it is negative.

Test kits are available from school and will be issued in a timely manner via Form Groups.  If your child/children are running low, they can contact a member of the BEST Team, who have been issued with spare home-test kits to issue.

If you test positive, please see the table below to work out exact isolation days:
