Welcome to Thorpe St Andrew Sixth Form

Our Sixth Form is a well-established and highly successful Sixth Form of approximately 450 students. We are large enough to have a wide range of courses available, both academic and vocational, but are small enough to be aware of, and respond to, the needs of each individual student.

You will be well aware that you have to make very important choices as you come to the end of Year 11. These choices will shape your future learning, career and life.

You will discover, through our website, what we can offer at Thorpe St Andrew Sixth Form. We hope that it will become evident to you that we always pride ourselves to put every student at the heart of everything we do. What we offer goes beyond the extensive courses available to you, as the pastoral support and the personalisation of your learning are all important and an integral part of our Sixth Form.

Whatever your ability, we have high expectations from every student. This is reflected through the School’s ARE ethos, as all students wishing to join us should be Aspirational, Respectful and Engaged. Our Sixth Form philosophy “The VOICE” (Vision – Organisation –identify – Consolidate – Effort) is a key element in making sure you complete your Sixth Form studies successfully.

Your Post 18 plans are as important to us as your learning whilst studying at our Sixth Form. This is why we offer such a wide range of enrichment courses and other fantastic opportunities such as school visits, direct contact with employers and Apprenticeship providers, to allow you to grow and develop into well-rounded individuals. These qualities are vital when securing your next steps upon the completion of your Sixth Form studies.

We have an excellent record of examination success allowing students to progress to University with an average of 91% of our applicants gaining a place in their firm choice, against a national average of 64%.  However, if University is not right for you, we make sure that we will support you all the way through your Apprenticeship or employment application.  We are extremely lucky that many of our former students return to the Sixth Form to share their experiences, therefore helping our current students to develop a vision and direction for their future.

Overall, the school is most proud of its support for each individual student. Preparing you to play your part in the world of work and in the community in which you live is our ultimate goal.

I wish you every success.
