Testing – What to expect!

My name is Izzy Mair and I am the Covid-19 Test Centre Co-ordinator.

Whether your child/ren is/are working from home or coming onto the school site, I thought it a good idea to update you on what has been happening in terms of the Covid-19 Test Centre, located at Thorpe St Andrew School and Sixth Form.

The Centre officially opened for business on Friday 15 January 2021. In that time, we have trained 16 staff for a variety of roles within the team and we have administered and processed over 800 staff and student tests.

Thank you to all of you (both staff and students) who have come through the Centre – you all need a bravery sticker – well done!

We are aware that students studying at home may not have undertaken a test and are maybe worried about doing so. The Test Centre Team (with the help from our IT team – thank you!) have created a video which takes you through the process and even shows you what happens to your test once taken.

You can watch it here:  Your Test Centre

Not everyone knows where their tonsils are – follow this link to show you: Finding your tonsils.

Here is a step-by-step guide to undertaking the lateral flow device test (LFD):  How to do your COVID-19 test

Rememberhand hygiene is really important – here is a guide to remind you of the steps you need to take: Handwashing poster

I have created a frequently asked questions sheet (FAQs) and thought I would share it with you here: FAQs

If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me via email at the following: imair8kq@yare-edu.org.uk . If your child has taken a test with us and you would like to offer a comment on how we can improve the service to your son/daughter, I would also appreciate an email.

Thank you for bearing with us and we look forward to welcoming your son/daughter (or welcoming them back) to the centre next week (w/c 01/03/21).

Take care for now, we hope you keeping safe!
