Students from Thorpe at Andrew School and Sixth Form were invited to attend the Norfolk Music Service Choir Festival at St Andrews Hall on the 5 November 2015.
The Festival consists of an intensive all day rehearsal and evening performance. Most of the students who attended the event are experienced singers and regular members of the School Choir. Students from the Level 3 Performing Arts Course also attended and for most of them this was their first experience of singing in a large choir and in such a prestigious venue.
“We found the Choir Festival rehearsals quite intimidating to start with and we felt very out of our depth. As the day went on we found that being surrounded by a large group of singers enjoying making music really helped us and we found our confidence levels starting to increase. At the end of the evening performance we all agreed that we really enjoyed the experience and are happy that we took on the challenge of learning new music in a new environment. Thank you Miss Walker and Mr Edwards for taking us”.
The Choir is currently preparing for their part in the Carol Service at Norwich Cathedral. If any students would like to come along and learn to sing, rehearsals take place on Tuesday and Thursday Lunchtimes in N20.
