Year 8 students at Thorpe St Andrew School and Sixth Form attended a powerful and thought-provoking drama presentation commissioned by Norfolk Constabulary’s Safer Schools Partnership, and is being staged in every Secondary School in the County, addressing concerns about the dangers of criminal exploitation.
The drama featured two school children who are recruited by a dealer to transport packages around the city. The children become more and more involved with the dealer, and the student audience was able to see how the relationship between the children and the dealer involved grooming, and ultimately sexual exploitation.
After the drama, the cast led a discussion about the issues raised in the play. Also in the audience were members of the Behaviour Education Support Team (BEST), PSHEE teachers and representatives from the Police and Local Authority. Students were reminded of the various sources of support available both in school and through organisations like Childline. They will be able to discuss the play in their PSHEE lessons.
